We have been asked over the years by customers why our PBO high temperature textile products are more expensive than our other high temperature solutions. Different raw materials vary in terms of cost and performance.
Marathon PBO is capable of working at greater temperatures (up to ~600°C), compared with most other high temperature materials.
PBO is not only temperature and flame resistant, but strength is retained over time when used in high temperature conditions.
Don’t forget that many textile materials are heat resistant, but do they offer the same degree of protection, durability over time and other benefits that PBO belts made by Marathon can offer?
These benefits all combine to provide a textile material that has an extended lifetime even in arduous conditions, saving cost, increasing efficiencies and minimising unnecessary downtime and disruption.
For some applications, you might need a heat resistant material that does not need to perform at the high-end temperature spectrum and will work at medium to high temperatures. You might then consider an aramid-based belt.
Marathon’s Triton belts (designed to withstand temperatures up to approx. 450°C) were designed and developed to create a material that provides the benefits of high performance para-aramid fibre, but also with
superior characteristics. This is delivered through an optimised blend of fibres and fabric construction to give a balance between technical performance and cost.
Marathon Belting is a world-class, performance textiles business. Our technical textile product solutions are used for demanding applications in multiple industries across the world. We are up for a challenge, so if you have one, please contact us by telephone on 01706 657052.
